Dead or Just Pretending

i How it’s used online The setup is a question about whether the people on the ground are really dead, and everything is built around the next panel, where someone says the line that gives them away. A very common version is a hot take that nobody can ignore, like "pineapple belongs on pizza", followed by everyone reacting, arguing or laughing. It can also be a phrase people automatically finish, like "Creeper" answered with "Aw man", or "Hello there" with "General Kenobi". Another version uses something nobody wants to miss, like early access to a game everyone has been waiting for, which gets the whole field to react at once. The last panel is what happens to everyone who gave themselves away. How it’s used by brands Brands can use the meme when they want to say something their audience will immediately react to. One version is a line people will disagree with or laugh at straight away, like "Email marketing is dead", with everyone on the ground laughing. You can also make it more specific to your industry, like "You should always post at exactly 9 a.m. for maximum engagement" , and have the people on the ground jump in with different answers about what the best time actually is. It also works for sales or offers, with a question like "Who has 40% off right now?" and everyone giving your brand as the answer. If your slogan or product name is well known, you can start the first half and let all four voices finish it. The last panel is also useful because that is where you can bring the post back to your brand. After everyone laughs at a bad marketing take, an agency could finish with something like "Do marketing right with us" or "Leave it to the pros", followed by its name or website.
