How it’s used online
Hackerman is usually used when someone does something slightly technical and immediately
feels like a genius, even though what they actually did was pretty simple. Most captions are
written like a small personal achievement, often starting with "me when" or "how it feels", for
example "Me when I use a VPN to get around a restriction" or "Me after opening Inspect
Element for the first time". It also gets used for things like restarting the computer and
somehow fixing it, finding the one setting you needed, or using a shortcut once and feeling like
a hacker.
How it’s used by brands
Most brands will probably use Hackerman ironically, by making something pretty ordinary look
like a huge technical achievement. A B2B SaaS company could post something like "Me after
sending a client an automatic meeting link", or a marketing team could celebrate learning one
Excel formula as if they had just hacked the system. Tech and software companies can also
use it more seriously when a feature actually makes something much easier. An automation
tool could post "How it feels to automate a process that used to take three hours" when
launching a new workflow feature. But it is not just for tech. A bank or finance app could use
the same joke for something like setting up an automatic savings plan and suddenly feeling
like a financial genius. In more straightforward industries, the joke can simply be about acting
like a genius for doing something basic, while more complicated products can use the meme
to show how much easier they make something that normally takes time or technical
knowledge.
